We’ve all heard the word, and most of us know what it looks like, but what exactly IS damask? And why do we love it so? Damasks originated in France during the period of Louis XVI (which design buffs know was not a time known for minimalism and restraint). The patterns feature symmetrical designs, often with flowers or leaves and were originally woven from rich, fabulous silks. Sounds super luxe, right? And they were – variations of the original centuries old patterns are still used today. But we love a good twist, and the way damasks are interpreted today is nothing short of inspired.
